HUGE thanks to the 50 people who answered the last poll. The topic you’re most interested in is relationships, but since I’m fresh out of those, I decided to write about entertainment today. That should please at least 42% of you… enjoy!
Some people say they don’t watch much TV.
“Who, me? TV? Nooooo.”
These same people say they are too busy listening to Fresh Air on NPR (“Terry Gross's interview style is so… engrossing.”). Or making their way through Modern Library’s top 100 classic novels (“The political structure of Orwell’s Animal Farm is parallel to that of Plato’s Republic.”). Or whittling birdhouses out of sustainable materials like bamboo (“Bamboo is actually the largest member of the grass family!”). SOME people even claim they don't OWN a TV.
Blasphemers!
I believe these people are lying, if for no other reason than that’s the BEAUTY of TV -- there’s something for everyone! Even public radio-listening, pretentious literary criticism-quoting, whittlers.
Now, I’m not ashamed to publicly embrace my first love: TV. I even love the commercials. My DVR is smoking right now (figuratively, of course, I leave the actual fires to the neighborhood coffee shops). That little silver box is a hub of recording activity, rivaled only by 24-hour surveillance cameras at the mall.
THIS is the most wonderful time of the year!
Old shows are back, new shows are starting, and I just got a cozy throw which I have named, Fozzie Bear, so I can snuggle up on the couch and watch them all. I only have 1 TV, but I may need a 2nd DVR. Seriously. I’m double booked every night from 8-11pm -- and then some.
So here’s how I’ll be spending my nights... and don't be jealous, you can use this as a guide to set your DVR too.
You're welcome.

How are you not watching Dexter?
Tell me you don't watch the Wendy Williams Show! How YOU do-in? ;)
By the numbers.....
40 shows (12 new)
15 reality, 10 comedy, 12 drama, 3 talk
Across 16 networks
Wow. U missed ur calling. U need to turn this hobby into a jobby!
Good thing you can watch all that TV. The rest of us have families to take care of and don’t have much “me” time.
Anon #1: I know! I watched some of season 1, because I loved Michael C Hall in Six Feet Under. But I just couldn't get into it. This season looks interesting, maybe I'll catch it on-demand when I'm in the mood for marathon serial killings.
Anon #2: Ha, no I don't watch her show. I get my fill of Wendy on The Soup. Did you see when she toasted a Slim Jim with a lighter and ate it? I don't think I can take a full hour of that. It may not seem like it, but that's below even my standards!
Anon #3: Seriously! Talk about a dream job, watching TV all day. Actually a guy I went to grammar school with is a pretty well known TV critic. Maybe he needs a backup. I bet his DVR is smoking too.
Anon #4: Thanks, Captain Obvious! I do have more “me” time on my hands lately, mainly because my fiance ended our relationship and any prospect I had of having a family right now. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, I’m sure you’ll find a more worthwhile distraction than television. May I suggest kicking puppies?
Beat it Anon 4!!
I see Jersey Shore on the list, does this mean you're finally coming around and seeing how awesomely entertaining it is?
So, what do you think of the new shows you've seen so far?
Jess: I don't know. Jersey Shore still annoys me, but I watch anyway. I've grown a soft spot for Paulie "It's t-shirt tiiiiime" D, but the rest of them suck.
Anon #5: Good question!
- Running Wilde: Eh.
- Chopped Champions: Ok, but no Top Chef.
- 24 Hour Restaurant Battle: Boring.
- Top Chef Just Desserts: Like it a lot, but it's no Top Chef (all-stars starts in December!)
- My Generation: Liked it, but it was cancelled after 2 episodes.
- Outsourced: Kind of offensive.
- Real Housewives of DC: Juicy
- Blue Bloods: LOVE THIS SHOW
- Fashion Police: Kinda funny
- Hawaii Five-O: Pretty good.
- Cupcake Wars: Good at first but every episode feels the same
- Boardwalk Empire: Can't get into this. Will keep trying.
Anybody watching anything else that's good?
